My Own Private Island

As New York slowly makes the transition to spring, I can’t help but think back to that time last month in the Bahamas where I had my own private island for the day. Well, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but it definitely felt like I did! One of the days on our trip to Paradise Island, we got to spend the afternoon at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Offshore Island. Have you ever heard of a resort with its own private island? Me neither. Needless to say Sydney, Grace, Danielle and I were all pretty psyched.

When I think of a tropical paradise, this island is what I imagine: hammocks in the ocean, seaside swings, cozy cabanas, a lagoon-style pool, swim-up bar, outdoor spa and oh yeah, our own private butlers.

While it was clear that the Sandals Royal Bahamian had everything you could want in an amazing all-inclusive vacation, it was really cool that guests have the option of escaping to a private oasis away from the bustle of the resort. In one afternoon we sampled everything the private island had to offer starting with tropical cocktails and a fresh seafood lunch at Schooner’s, the island’s Caribbean-inspired restaurant. The next few hours were spent hopping back and forth between the pool and our cabana, before ending our afternoon with massages Red Lane® Spa. Though I only got a brief glimpse, the Sandals lifestyle is definitely one I could get behind over and over again. I had to pinch myself a few times because it truly didn’t feel like real life!
