How To Style White Pants In The Winter

Topshop Bow SweaterLove wearing white pants year-round like me? Even once you get past the ‘No White After Labor Day Rule’ (which might I add is ridiculous), the colder months still can make styling light-colored pants a bit problematic.

Messy weather and the fact that apparel and outerwear tends to trend in darker colors, doesn’t offer ideal conditions for white pants during the colder months. I can remember distinctly one day last winter making the mistake of wearing white jeans with short booties a few days after it had snowed. While the sidewalks were clear, the ground was still wet and I ended up splattering black water and dirt all up the back of my ankles– not a cute look.

So what are some ways you can wear white pants seasonally? Well here are three that I have been LOVING.

1. MIX & MATCH WHITE PANTS WITH CHUNKY SWEATERS & COATS

One of my favorite winter pairings is white pants and a chunky oversized sweater. If you wanna go all out– try a cable knit turtleneck topped with a patterned scarf.

2. OPT FOR TRADITIONAL WINTER FABRICS LIKE CORDUROY OR WOOL

This fall I purchased my first pair of corduroy pants in years that I ended up wearing nonstop. Corduroy fabric is very warm and offers a nice alternative to denim or cotton-blend leggings.

3. PAIR WHITE PANTS WITH TALL BOOTS

I learned my lesson last year– if there’s snow on the ground or the weather has been icky always err on the side of caution and choose footwear that covers the back of your legs.

So is wearing white during winter actually a fashion faux pas? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
