As I’ve gotten a little older my focus when it comes to cosmetics has definitely changed. During college (when I first really started getting into makeup) I was all about wearing bright colors and trying any and every look that caught my eye. I got all my inspiration from watching YouTube tutorials and copying what celebs were wearing on the red carpet. It was so much fun and I definitely do miss playing with new products and keeping up with all the new beauty collections.
After a spring of hardly wearing any makeup (I explain here) I’ve now gotten back into a daily routine where I use the same variation of products that I trust and love. For daytime I like to keep things quick and simple. In the tutorial below you’ll see that sometimes I’ll skip steps and I trend to gravitate towards products I can apply directly with my fingers – so much easier! I’ve also found that cool-toned shadows – specifically pinks and purples – work best for my coloring so I will always wear those shades on my eyes. If you have brown eyes or a darker skin tone you may find that warmer tone shadows – bronze, gold, moss greens – will flatter your eyes. The trick is to not be afraid to test new products – it’s taken me a few years to find what works best for me!
What I wear:
Face: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Matte concealer, Cargo bronzer, Benefit Posietint
Eyes: Inglot palette (similar shades here and here), NARS eye primer, Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense liner, Cynthia Rowley liquid liner, Inglot mascara (similar here)
Lips: Revlon lipgloss

Do you ever contour your face with pale foundation and bronzing powder? Not just the cheekbones? I’ve heard this works miracle, but not sure how to do it without it looking like clown makeup.

Great post! I always use the posietint on both my cheeks (apply a powder blush over top), and on my lips (with a Dior lip plumping gloss over top).
