A Color Block Dress & A ‘Brunch Party’

After a very long and tiring work week I was so happy to unwind over the weekend. Nick and I basically spent all of Saturday and Sunday on the couch in sweats catching up on emails, watching movies and just pigging out on snacks and pizza. SO needed!
But since I do get stir crazy (I can’t go more than a few hours just sitting around my apt) I took up an invite from a friend to get dressed up and go to a ‘brunch party’ on Saturday. OKAY so guys, I’m so naive when it comes to the NYC nightlife scene. When my friend said ‘brunch party’ I thought ‘Oh yay bottomless bloody marys and eggs benedict for me. Yippee!’ So wrong. My friend ended up taking me the Highline Ballroom for this daytime rave/club party called Day or Night Brunch. It was basically just a huge club party with bottle service, half dressed go-go dancers, neon lights, etc. except at 2pm in the afternoon… When I found out there was no food I nearly wanted to cry. I WAS SO BUMMED. I was even tempted to leave the party and go across the street to the deli for a bag of Doritos. I came with my appetite! Though I didn’t get to eat, I did do some AWESOME people watching. A little party never killed nobody right?

  2. Classic New York mix-up. You never know what you’re going to get here. I hope you didn’t freeze your legs off, but that dress is worth it!

You look adorable, Katie–love the combo of the blue and burgundy! And I have to admit, I would have shared your disappointment with the brunch party (who knew that was even a thing!?), mostly because to me, food is an important part of brunch haha.

That dress is so pretty! I would have been so confused at that party, and likely would have taken the drugstore/Doritos route 😉

My university does a fun thing called Breakfast Club. Starting on Friday night on through Saturday you dress up in costumes and drink, tailgate and maybe make it through the football game. Love your style and you are an inspiration to me 🙂
