Get Your Shop On | Labor Day Sales

Some of my picks from the Labor Day sales…

Sad confession time: I didn’t realize until WEDNESDAY afternoon that this weekend was Labor Day weekend and I had Monday off from work. I think I’ve just been so caught up in the moment lately, living life day by day, that I haven’t really been able to focus on anything long term – I even forgot that fashion week starts next week. Haha maybe this a sign that I need to slow down and just relax. There just aren’t enough hours in a day and I feel like I can’t ever finish everything on my to-do list. So since I do have a 3 and a 1/2 day weekend (half day today – YES!) I’m going to try and actually enjoy myself. Nick and I don’t have any plans so I think we’re going to venture out to Coney Island one day or maybe even the Museum of Modern Art. Have any of you ever been? Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone! xo

Black & Blue Night Look

I was wearing…
Since posting this outfit last week, I’ve been getting requests to post more night out looks. My college friends were in town over the weekend and I wore this Saturday night for dinner at BB Bar in Nolita and then a little bar hopping on Lower East Side. I’m not a fan of tight, bandage style skirts, so I always go for ones with a little flair like this one from Topshop. Since my skirt is shorter side I made to cover up top with this neck-high sleeveless top from H&M.
I think when it comes to putting together a night look there’s a fine line between outfits that are sexy and fun and outfits that are just slutty and obvious you’re trying too hard. In college (I’m definitely guilty of it) and here in the city I see so many girls wearing way too short skirts paired with the most revealing of tops. When it comes to night looks I think you got to pick one or the other (boobs or legs -haha!) and also play up your strengths! If you’re thin – wear a skirt that cinches at the waist. If you’ve got curves – wear items that show them off. 🙂
What’s your philosophy when it comes to night looks? I want to hear your thoughts!
