Pretty Pastels

DSC_0475
One of the biggest trends this spring is pastels and clearly I don't plan on missing out. I bought these J. Crew cream sickle-colored jeans back in December and have been dying to wear them. Since it's finally starting to feel like spring in North Carolina I broke them out for their first wear. I'm so in love with pastels that I actually ended up ordering a mint-colored pair of jeans for Urban Outfitters. Can't wait to wear them!

Stripes & Dots

DSC_0359
According to fashion bloggers it seems like mixing prints is in. Lately I've been seeing a lot of my favorite bloggers pairing dots, stripes and patterns together. See what I'm talking about here, here, and here. This is my take on the trend: I paired my new Urban Outfitters polka dot grazer jeans (got them on sale!) with a thick striped top. You can also see from the photos I have a new furry companion! Nick and his roommates found this adorable German Shepherd/Bull Mastiff puppy mix on a highway and now she's part of the family. Her name is Kay.

Green Khaki

DSC_0253
Hello all! So I know khaki green isn't much of a trend right now but I couldn't help myself when I put this outfit together. I bought this dress from Mango in South Africa and it totally inspired me to embrace the safari trend. For a pop of color I wore a coral lipstick and added in my Missoni for Target clutch. You can check out this Vera Bradley coupon code to help you save on some similar to mine! My aviators are brand new as well. I got them from Rue La La, a discount designer flash sale site for only $30! Such a steal from their retail price of $70. If you haven't joined Rue La La I suggest you do!

Flip

DSC_0183
I am really getting sick of cold weather. In South Africa I was spoiled with sunny skies and 75 degree weather everyday so getting used to the cold again has been a challenge. Since I've been lusting for spring I did a little online shopping yesterday at Asos and Urban Outfitters. I'm so excited that pastels and colored jeans are a trend right now. I ordered these mint-colored jeans from Urban and these boyfriend jeans from Asos...along with a few other pairs. Can't wait to wear them!

Bright Prep

DSC_0058
On days when the weather is "blah" I can't help but wear bright colors. It's sort of my little way of kicking the clouds in butt and saying "just because you're dreary doesn't mean I have to be!" Maybe I'm weird...But anyways I unearthed this ghastly bright J. Crew sweater that I've been failing miserably at incorporating into my wardrobe. I've tried to wear it before but I just never felt like I could make it work...until now. The temperature was mild but still a little brisk so I added the sweater over top my Missoni for Target dress. There's just something I love about blue and orange...

Date Night

DSC_0014
So I know I mentioned in my Valentine's Day post about how Nick and I were going to be staying in for Valentine's Day and not spending our money on expensive meals or gifts. But at the last minute Nick actually surprised me and informed me he'd be treating me to a fancy dinner out! I definitely didn't complain because who doesn't love red wine and fancy deserts? The weather was mild so I wore a rosette-spotted skirt and cream blouse. I actually spilled coffee all down the front of this blouse last week and the dry cleaners were able to totally get it out! Score!

Casual Pink

DSC_0107
I've showcased this dress once before on my blog but last time I deceptively was wearing it as a skirt, with an oversized sweater on top. On this day the weather was much more mild and I was able to wear it in its true form. Paired with a brown check scarf, a camel waist belt and some taupe booties I really think the color combination of pink and neutrals come together. I was just getting so sick of jeans and cords (it's been COLD) that I had to break out something bearing my ankles. Hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day!

Lovely Treats

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! This year Nick and I decided to skip out on expensive gifts and dinner and go for a more frugal Valentine's Day celebration. Today you'll find us spending the night in making cupcakes and watching a marathon of one of our favorite TV shows (nothing says Valentine's Day like Spartacus: Revenge!) Even though I'm not planning on spending a lot this year that doesn't mean I can't be inspired by everything pink and romantic in the stores. Below are some items that I think exemplify the holiday of Valentine's Day perfectly.

I think books look prettier stacked on top of one another instead of side-by-side
Hi girls! After a year of struggles I finally have my bookshelf and jewelry organized in a practical but still pretty way. I absolutely love reorganizing and decorating so I hope my photos and videos could be of help to anyone looking for some tips. For a more in depth explanation/tour check out this video I uploaded to my YouTube channel! Happy Weekend! To check out my other videos click here!
