DIY Glitter Pumps

DSC_0128
I know we've all seen and heard of the glitter heel craze sweeping the fashion blog-osphere this fall. This can all be attributed to Miu Miu's fall 2011 line of glittered and bedazzled pumps, booties and sneakers. As much as I'd love throw down $600 on a pair of golden glitter heels I decided to go the cheaper route and make my own. Big thanks to the Glitter Guide for inspiring this DIY tutorial!

You will need:
old patent leather heels
sandpaper
extra fine gold glitter
paint brush
Elmer's glue (any type of basic glue)
bowl for mixing glue and glitter
Modge Podge clear sealer spray gloss (not pictured)
newspaper

I'd suggest using extra fine glitter. It will mix better with the glue.

How to make your pumps:
1. Gently sand or "exfoliate" your heels on all areas where you plan on applying glitter
2. Mix 2 parts glue to 1 part glitter. I used about 1.5 tablespoons of glue per shoe. Just play it by sight and make sure your glitter paste is not too thick
3. Paint your shoes with your glitter glue
4. Sprinkle the leftover glitter all over your shoes. Do not worry about getting glitter in your shoes you can clean them out later
5. Allow your shoes to dry for 24 hours
6. Take your shoes outside and spray them with a sealer. This will prevent the glitter from falling off later. I sprayed mine twice
7. Allow your shoes to dry for another 24 hours

Missoni for Target Blue Knit Dress

If you follow me on Twitter then you know how much I've been obsessing over the Missoni for Target line. The morning it was released I made my way over to my local Target only to find many of the items almost sold out. I didn't know all the locals in my small, southern college town were so in with the trends? Nevertheless I still was able to snag a few great items in my size, including this blue and gold shift dress. Printed in Missoni's signature zig-zag stripes, this dress embodies all that I love about Missoni, minus the high price tag. The fabric is sturdy, but still has a lightweight feel, a quality that I love in knits.

Fall Nail Polishes

I officially have a nail polish addiction and my collection has nearly tripled in size over the past year alone. This is due to two different reasons. I finally learned how to paint my nails without getting polish everywhere and because I started my YouTube beauty channel! Being a part of a community of hundreds of other beauty-obsessed girls on YouTube really has a way of pressuring you into buying more products. Here are the polishes I am loving for the fall!
OPI Bling Dynasty, butter LONDON Knees Up, MAC Soirée, butter LONDON Tea with the Queen

Slouchy Shades of Blue

_DSC4110

Don't you love those days where you spend an hour straightening your hair and then as soon as you walk outside your hair turns right back into a poof? That's what happened on this rainy day but at least I was able to make up for it with my outfit. I really love the slouchy pants look paired with a statement shirt and a simple cardigan. My favorite component of this look would have to be my Rachel Roy heeled wedges. I kinda like that they're a little dirty and scuffed. I've had them for about a year and they've only gotten better with age.

I picked up a few lovely things from the Missoni for Target collection. Can't wait to show them off!

A few weeks ago my creative juices got flowing and this is what resulted. A wall-worthy bulletin board covered in all the things that are inspiring me this fall. Glitter heels. Missoni for Target. Color blocking. The 70's. Skirt suits. This season's trends are full of many things I love! If you look close you can find two of my current favorite models, Karlie Kloss and Arizona Muse. Absolutely stunning!

What is inspiring you this fall?

Casual Blues and Jewels

DSC_3423
Whenever I buy a new outfit I always have to wear it the very next day. New clothes just excite me. Am I the only one like that?

That is exactly what happened when I visited Anthropologie this past weekend. I'd been in Anthropologie before but had never made the effort to browse the racks and really find some pieces I love. Upon arrival I made my way straight to the sale room. Though it took a little effort I was able to find this cotton cream and sky blue paneled skirt along with this navy blue knit crop top. I've lately become a skirt fiend since losing interest in all my shorts. There's just something much more elegant about skirts. They're so transitional, perfect for work and class. I snagged both the skirt and top for less than $65. Seemed like a steal to me since most clothing at Anthro is priced at more than $100

Birthday Jewels: David Yurman, Tiffany & Co.

For my birthday this year I was so blessed to receive a few beautiful pieces to add to my jewelry collection. I've recently gotten very inspired by jewelry and have been working hard to expand on the few pieces I currently own. I have many inexpensive statement jewels from J. Crew, Juicy Couture and Forever21, but I can't say I have any pieces that I really prize and treasure. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend and grandparents I can now add David Yurman and Tiffany's to my holdings. Can I get gifts like this every year?

David Yurman bracelets
amethyst color classics bracelet, cable collectibles heart lock bracelet
Tiffany lock necklace
Tiffany Locks vintage round lock pendant

What do you think of my gifts?
