You Can Never Have Too Many Shoes...

Lately I've been loving flats. Usually I'm all for heels but there is just something about flats that really appeals to me. They're comfy (well most of them) and can be worn for any occasion depending on the style. The next pair of flats I buy are hopefully a pair of Marc Jacobs mouse flats. I've always thought they were cute but never thought of purchasing them. Maybe I will now...

Clothes Hound Store Opening Event

If you follow me on Twitter then you know I recently had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of online retailer Clothes Hound's flagship store in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event was a two hour media only affair where guests had the opportunity to browse items before the public opening, speak with the store owner and take photos. I was happy to find out Clothes Hound will be carrying French Connection and Free People (two of my favorite brands) as well as a few I had never heard of such as Gentle Fawn, Naked Zebra, and Paper Crown by Lauren Conrad. I went with my roommate Brit! Check out the photos we took below!

I loved this purse! I have a thing for quilted bags :)

I loved the simplicity of the items in the store. Each rack was arranged by color palette. My favorite was this rack of neutrals and blues. The pieces were all affordable ($35-$150), casual enough for everyday, but trendy enough to easily wear in a more formal-appropriate setting. I loved this dress, The color and cut is exactly my style. Simple and classic. Flattering but not over the top. If you're looking for some pieces similar to these, you can use this coupon from Fashion Bug to help you save on some!

Me and Brit

Theory dress. Cole Haan heels. Michael Kors watch.

Love love love these heels!

I love a leather hybrid wallet/clutch. I like to carry them around on their own. Large enough that there's no need for a purse :)

We went out to dinner after! I got the gourmet chicken pot pie. SO yummy!

Check out Clothes Hound here. They have a great online selection!

A Glimpse into my Jewelry Collection

It wasn't until recently that I started getting into wearing jewelry. I can be quite lazy when it comes to accessorizing but I've realized the right jewelry and accessories are important elements of any ensemble. My jewelry collection is small but it has potential.
The necklace on the left I bought on sale at J. Crew about a year ago (50% off plus the 15% student discount! Booyah!). I love anything rose gold and with pearls.

Draped "bib" necklace from Forever21. I love wearing statement necklaces with simple plain t-shirts.

14K Gold "Katie" necklace. A gift from my grandparents when I was in 8th grade.
Michael Kors Watch. Green flower gemstone cuff from local boutique.

The majority of necklaces and bracelets are from J. Crew, Forever21, Urban Outfitters, and Juicy Couture. The bottom tray is full of Juicy Couture charms, random earrings, a few costume rings, and my sorority pin.

I hope you enjoyed these photos! What should my next jewelry purchase be?

My Latest Clothing Obsession

Since I've entered the real world, aka working 9-5 as a full-time PR intern, I've discovered a new love for blouses. I own a few very nice ones from Theory and J. Crew but I've never worn them on a regular basis. Now that my everyday ensemble consists of pencil skirts and slacks I've been wearing my blouses like crazy -- and I love it! One of my favorite color combinations so far has been pink and pewter. I love pairing a dark skirt with a feminine pink blouse or pairing a frilly pink eyelet skirt with a loose masculine-fitting grey blouse. Once classes start again maybe I'll continue dressing like this?

1. J. Crew metallic-print linen top
2. Valentino ruffled silk-chiffon blouse
3. Topshop nude floaty cape blouse
4. J. Crew silk crepe de shin blouse
5. T By Alexander Wang striped jersey T-shirt
6. Theory Nalena ruffled silk-crepe blouse

What are some of your favorite color combinations? What's your go-to work attire?

New Shoes: Classic Flats

This entire year I've been obsessed with heels. Almost every shoe purchase I've made over the past few months have been heels, until now. Since starting my internship I've realized I cannot put my feet through the torture of wearing heels everyday. So I decided it was time to invest in a new pair of flats. When I was shopping at Macy's a few weeks ago I discovered the perfect pair of Coach flats. I usually don't go for shoes that are covered in the brand's logo but I really fell in love these. I love the patent leather detailing combined with the Coach signature "C" fabric. The flats also have a thick rubber sole perfect for running around the office as well as trekking around city streets.

Do you have a favorite pair of flats? What's your favorite brand?

The Little Things: Eyelet Detail

Sometimes it's the little things that really make an outfit special. Lately I've been loving eyelet details. A few week ago I went to J.Crew and found the cutest cotton eyelet skirt (#5) and have been wearing it to death since. It's work appropriate but casual enough that I know I can wear it to class in the fall. Since buying it I've been noticing eyelet detail in many stores and not only on skirts but dresses, tops and even swimsuits. I'm thinking a flimsy and flowy white eyelet dress might be my next purchase.

1. Broderie Anglaise Cotton Blazer - J.Crew
2. Tiana Triangle Bikini - Shimmi
3. Eyelet Lace Thong - Betsey Johnson
4. Cotton Blend Lace Skirt - J.Crew
5. Mini Pixie Eyelet Dress - Alice by Temperley
6. Subtle Metallic Eyelet Scarf - Forever21
7. Eyelet Lace Dress - Isabel Marant
8. Peach Applique Eyelet Bolero Jacket - TopShop
9. Renew Multi-Tie Bikini - TM by Tara Matthews
10. Fairmont Cotton Blouse - Textile Elizabeth and James

What do you think of eyelet detail? What's your favorite way to wear it?
