Platform Oxfords?

Over the past year I have noticed an increasing interest in women wearing oxford shoes. I personally have never been much of a fan (I'm a heels girl) but these platform oxfords by Prada might just change my mind. Prada has always been known for their quirky designs and when it came to shoes for RTW Spring 2011 they haven't disappointed. They remind me of moon shoes for the trendy space girl. Haute couture astronaut-wear?

In a perfect world I'd be able to buy the Prada oxfords. In a realistic world I can afford these $85 metallic Sperry boat shoes. I've owned a pair of boat shoes before and they are convenient and comfortable but I never looked at them as fashionable. Maybe this metallic pair would the perfect addition to my shoe collection?

What do you think of oxfords and boat shoes? A passing trend or here to stay?

Jamaica: Tribal Print Dresses and Cliff Diving

Here is another post of pictures from my trip to Jamaica. While on vacation Nick and I did one of the only free things that Jamaica offers tourists: cliff diving. A video of that can be seen below along with a vlog about my outfit of the night.

Maxi Dresses and Chandelier Earrings

I'm a big fan of bright colors however I haven't been wearing them much because of the cold weather. Vacationing in Jamaica gave me the perfect excuse to break out anything and everything colorful I own and wear it within the span of four days. One of the things I was most excited to wear was my obnoxiously comfortable and affordable yellow maxi dress/pool coverup from Target.

I bought this dress about two years ago and I'm obsessed. When it's warm I wear this dress EVERYWHERE. I wear it casually around to the grocery store. I wear it over my swimsuit at the pool. I wear it out to fancy dinners with my family. Simple maxi dresses are just one of the many items I love because they are so versatile. They literally can be worn to any event whether it's casual or formal. On my trip I wore this dress out to a fancy dinner (as shown in this post) but also as a coverup over my swimsuit to the beach and as a casual dress out to lunch.

I feel like Gisele in this picture. Tan, freckles, beach hair, piercing eyes. It just feels effortless and natural. Modeling and posing for pictures has never been one of my strengths and I was happy my boyfriend was able to snap this shot.
I love the orange sole of these wedges. They really add a pop of color to any outfit. I also love the contrast of the orange with my blue toenail polish :)

Jamaica: Floppy Hats and Butterfly Shirts

As many of you who read my blog know this past week I was in Jamaica for my spring break vacation. I just returned last night and I had an amazing time just relaxing and spending time in the sun. The weather was beautiful every day and the people were very friendly. I was originally a little apprehensive about going to Jamaica because of safety but we honestly had no problems at all. The people and scenery were colorful and lively and I look forward to the day I can go back.

Check out pictures from my first day!

Chunky Heels and a Floppy Hat

I know it's been such a long time since I last did a personal style post. With midterms and responsibilities for school I have been slacking like no other when it comes to blogging and youtube. However my last midterm was on Friday and since the weather was beautiful outside I finally got the time to go out and take some pictures.

I'm really excited about this post because I'm wearing some of my new clothes from Forever21. I love how inexpensive Forever21 is and that I can still buy clothing from there that is in with latest trends. I've been lusting over floppy hats and printed shorts so I was happy I could wear both in this outfit.

Packing for Spring Break 2011

For the first time in my life I am taking a spring break trip. But not your traditional type of spring break with excess drinking, partying, and crazy college kids. I am taking my type of spring break trip consisting of me and my boyfriend relaxing at a contemporary beach resort in Jamaica. I'm not a big partier and the last thing I would want on my spring "break" is commotion, loud music, and drunken nights. I'm looking forward to taking pictures for my blog, eating great food, and laying in the sun.

Since I'm packing light and not checking a bag, I have all my outfits and accessories planned to a T.

Chanel Fall 2011 RTW + Blake Lively for Chanel!

When I first saw Blake Lively in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, never did I think she would become the current style icon she is today. I sometimes still don't understand all the hype around her when it comes to fashion. To me she looks like your average tall, blonde, and skinny pretty girl who just wears really nice clothes. Or maybe that's all you need nowadays? She just seems very "plain-jane" and her acting ability really doesn't help my image of her. But nonetheless she is very beautiful and has great style

As we all probably know Blake is the new face of Chanel. Check out one of her newest ads below with an inspired moodboard.

The moodboard below is inspired by a look off the runway of Chanel Fall 2011 RTW. Lately I've been very inspired by maxi skirts and tops with shoulder details. Chanel has also now convinced me that motorcycle boots are fashionable. It's taken me a while to open up to them since I usually dress very feminine. But in this photograph I like the vibe of girly-girl meets biker-chic, not really trying with the gloves and boots but sorta with the frilly skirt and angular blouse.

Are you a fan of Chanel's Fall 2011 RTW collection? What do you think of Blake Lively as the face of Chanel?

Spring Break Inspiration - Jamaica

10 days from now I will be in Jamaica. No more cold, rainy weather for me. I will be sitting on a beach, wearing a bikini, and sipping a mojito. Until that day comes I will continue to stare into my closet lusting over the bright dresses, beach hats, and tribal print shorts I will soon be wearing.

Spring Fashion Lusts: Forever21

It's now March which means it's almost time to put my winter clothes away and start wearing my favorites dresses, shorts, and sandals. I usually go shopping 3 times a year (winter, spring, and summer) however last year I skipped my spring shopping and instead bought a ton of business casual suits and dresses for my NYC internship. Now that I have a closet full of business attire I'm ready to spend my money on some fun and colorful spring duds.

Over this past year Forever21 has become one of my favorite stores. It fits my college budget and the range and selection of clothes can't be matched. The quality of some of the clothes is iffy but if you take care of your purchases they can last for a while.

Celebrity Style - Oscars 2011

Although this year's Academy Awards broadcast was awkward and hard to watch the fashion didn't disappoint. There weren't any celebrities whose dress I hated which is quite unusual for me. My favorites for the night included host Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Mandy Moore, Amy Adams, and Gwenyth Paltrow. Yesterday while I was procrastinating on homework I decided to make some Polyvore sets inspired my top three.

I absolutely loved the soft lavender color of Mila Kunis' gown. It was so feminine and elegant, much different from some of her harder, edgier looks she's worn lately. I also loved the detail around the bust and the draping down the front mixed with lace. She looked so delicate, especially with her soft makeup by Lancome.

Anything with sparkles I'm a fan of and when it involves gorgeous deep blues I'll be even more enamored by it. Amy Adams looked flawless at the awards. I'd love to own an evening top inspired by her gown and pair it with chunky wedges.
Mandy Moore - Oscars 2011

Mandy Moore - Oscars 2011 by PinkBeautyBliss on Polyvore.com

Mandy Moore looked wonderful as well in her Monique Lhuillier gown. I loved how sheer it was at the top with the sparkles and tulle cascading down. Her skin looked luminous and I loved the red lip. If I could remake this outfit I would wear a similar cocktail dress with a pair of Louboutins and a bright lip.

What did you think of the fashion at the Oscars? Were these stars' gowns hit or miss?
